A biking challenge for the new Jewish year – 5784
Tags: #RoshHashanah #Bicycle #Ebicycle #Bike5784 #Mazeldon #Jewdiverse #BikeJewish Rosh Hashanah was today. It is one of my favorite holidays, in part because it played such a big role in my family becoming Jewish but also because it start of a new year in the Jewish calendar, which of course, leads to the topic of resolutions. Two years ago (5782) I had a powerful experience of doing my best to avoid driving for a year, trying to do as much of my daily travel by bicycle. I did this partly because I love bicycling, but mostly as a creative way to […]
A Bicycle Tour of OKC
I had a blast doing a “tour of OKC” ride on my ebike. A little over 41 miles. Here is a map of the route, followed by some of my photos from the day in the comments. Here are the rest of the pictures from the day: https://photos.app.goo.gl/PHH39KR3ZpvVQ7NE9 #OKC #Bike #BikeOKC #tourofokc
Oklahoma needs public television! Save OETA!
https://www.oklahoman.com/story/opinion/2023/05/08/outdoorsman-tell-gov-stitt-and-your-legislator-to-support-oeta/70194158007/ Please take a moment and call or email your state legislator, urging them to override Gov. Stitt’s painfully stupid (and hateful) veto of funding for OETA (Oklahoma’s PBS network — FYI, the only network that serves the entire state). #PBS #OETA #Oklahoma #LGBTQ
A presentation: Comparing the Anabaptist and Jewish traditions
Video: Two Traditions that I love: Comparing Anabaptism and Judaism The following is the text of a talk I gave at Joy Mennonite Church in Oklahoma City on April 23, 2023. I am very thankful that this church (where I once ministered) was willing to let me come back and share some of my observations from these two traditions (FYI, I am now Jewish). Also, FYI – the accompanying slide show for this talk can be found here. (SLIDE 1) It is such a joy to be here at Joy today! (laughs) Today I’m going to speak about what I […]
Ingrid’s has closed!?
Incredibly sad news. I have a lot of fond memories of this place… 1. Attending the progressive pastor’s breakfast (back when I was a #Mennonite minister) and talking #theology and #activism over coffee with folks like Zach Gleason, Kathy Shook McCallie and Lance A Schmitz 2. Taking a break from a hot afternoon of tabling at #OKCPride —- their cool and dark dining room was a lovely place on a hot summer day to hide out. 3. Eating there with my family on Friday nights, as my son loved to eat their massive club sandwiches prior to Shabbat services — […]

My mom is coming out of retirement!
This was originally posted on Facebook. Have to brag on my mom… after several years of retirement, she is going back to teaching at my old high school this fall! Very appreciative of her doing this, particularly when there is such a shortage of teachers in this state. #Oklahoma #OKEd
